'Jetson' chair - Bruno Mathsson
"Jetson" by Bruno Mathsson
mfr. DUX, Sweden c.1970
A futuristic chair, slim and simple but strong and very comfortable. Mathsson's Jetson chair saw him employ new technologies to re-apply all he had learned about comfort and minimal modern design.
Swedish master Bruno Mathsson (1907-1988) was a self-taught furniture designer and architect. His work is well-known in Europe and the USA, but few pieces made it to Australia.
This chair has a distinctive look, and unforgettable comfort. The chromed steel frame is upholstered in super-soft leather. The swivel base is self-centering, making it as perfect as a desk-chair as it is a lounger.
Very good vintage condition. Structurally excellent, with only light cosmetic wear. Some light scratches to the leather, and mild aging to the chrome base, but excellent overall.
