Glass topped coffee table

Perhaps the most iconic coffee-table design of the 'Scandinavian modern' school.

With echoes of Viking longboats, this ingeniously composed table has a stained walnut timber base supporting a heavy slab of smoked glass. The base has organic curved lines, and surprising strength for its fineness.

A real statement piece, but as practical as it is beautiful. Seldom seen in Australia, this design is often mistakenly attributed to Illum Wikkelsø, who took cues from it's form in some of his own work.

Glass top is extremely heavy (a consideration when shipping), base can be disassembled for transport.

Very good vintage condition. The beveled glass top has several light scratches, but no cracks or chipping. One 'foot' of the timber base has a 1" chip, but otherwise excellent overall.
